Brand presentation Continental

Continental is a German automotive supplier founded in 1871 in Hanover. Since its early days, the brand has mainly developed tyres for different types of vehicles, while also manufacturing various automotive components. Its logo, featuring a rearing horse, is inspired by the roots of Lower Saxony and symbolises the strength and reliability sought in its products. Over the years, it has broadened its activities to researching solutions for a more resource-friendly future of mobility.

  • In 1892, it was the first German company to produce bicycle tyres, marking the brand’s entry into the rubber market.
  • The car tyre with a tread band first appeared at Continental as early as 1904, followed by innovations like the detachable rim in 1908 and the cord tyre in 1921.
  • After 1939, the focus on military requirements influenced production, and civilian activities resumed as early as 1945.
  • In 1952, the brand introduced Europe’s first tyre specifically designed for winter conditions and achieved numerous successes in motor racing between 1951 and 1955.
  • The integration of cutting-edge technologies and the creation of dedicated divisions, such as ContiTech for rubber recycling and processing, have reinforced its reputation as a major industry player.
  • The Group owns or markets several brands, including Uniroyal, Semperit, and General Tire, and also has stakes in distribution networks (Eurotyre, BestDrive).
  • In line with current challenges, the brand invests in hybrid and electric propulsion, while conducting research on material recycling. The GreenConcept reflects these efforts, focusing on reducing environmental impact and optimising the tyre.

Thanks to its history marked by inventiveness and its commitment to more sustainable mobility, Continental now occupies a significant position in the automotive sector, both as original equipment on vehicles from renowned manufacturers and through its technical solutions and global distribution network.

Technology from Continental

Force Vectoring
Force Vectoring

The new Sport Contact 6 tire incorporates Force Vectoring technology defined by a new tread pattern that significantly improves tire stability, as well as increased drainage of excess water through widened grooves and channels, greatly minimizing the risk of aquaplaning.

Multigrip
Multigrip

The MultiGrip offers the tire a progressive grip with a unique blend achieved during the production phase by a controlled tire baking operation.

ContiSupportRing (CSR)
ContiSupportRing (CSR)

Thanks to the CSR or ContiSupportRing, a vehicle can now continue its journey if it suffers a puncture.
The principle is simple: a standard tire and rim carry a lightweight stainless steel ring on a flexible support.
The ContiSupportRing is fully designed for standard rims and tires with wide sides and profiles.

ZeroDegree
ZeroDegree

Perfect stability at high speed is ensured by the zero-degree steel belt.

ContiSilent™
ContiSilent™

Continental has developed ContiSilent™ technology to reduce tire noise emissions. Interior noises are greatly attenuated regardless of the road surface, through the action of a polyurethane foam acting as an absorber, present inside the tread via an adhesive. Note that temperatures do not influence the structure of this foam.

TractionSkin
TractionSkin

The innovative TractionSkin tire surface stands out with a tread whose micro-roughness enhances road grip. The running-in is almost eliminated by the action of an innovative mold coating that eliminates the necessary use of release agents.

GripLimitFeedback
GripLimitFeedback

The communication between the driver and the tire is further enhanced by the innovative GripLimitFeedback technology which allows for earlier feedback in situations of maximum tilt to ensure much better levels of control and safety.

Handmade in Germany

The vast majority of our radial tires were born in Korbach on the shores of Lake Eder in Germany, and have been for ages, and are the result of work passionately carried out by experts with multiple skills. Don't forget it!

Continental's smart tire sensors
Continental's smart tire sensors

The Continental tire sensors are at the heart of Continental's two digital tire monitoring systems, ContiPressureCheck™ and ContiConnect™. The smart sensors continuously measure the temperature and pressure of the air inside the tire, and provide data that can be displayed on your dashboard, whether inside the driver's cabin or on a web portal for monitoring the entire fleet. The Conti CrossTrac tires are of excellent quality. Your company has a complete solution, as they perfectly adapt to Continental's digital tire monitoring solutions.

RainGrip
RainGrip

The Wet Grip compound incorporates even more silica to achieve maximum grip on wet roads as well as increased mileage.

MileagePlus
MileagePlus

The MileagePlus technology incorporates a compound that significantly increases mileage while at the same time preserving exceptional maneuverability.

ContiSeal
ContiSeal

Continental has developed the ContiSeal™ technology that acts by temporary sealing if the tread is punctured. Any puncture caused by an external entity such as a nail no longer requires the vehicle to stop or the immediate substitution of the tire. Please note that the sealing remains effective even in case of ejection of the foreign body.
How does it work? A tire benefiting from ContiSeal™ technology has its tread coated with a sealing substance of a thick and viscous texture effective on 80% of punctures. Compatible with any rim, a tire carrying this innovative technology is marked on the sidewall by the ContiSeal™ symbol.

EasyHandling
EasyHandling

The EasyHandling technology maintains the tire's excellent handling even when the motorcycle endures very high gyroscopic forces such as during steep curves. In all encountered situations, driving precision and road feel are truly maximized.

One of the best tyres money can buy. So far, so good: grip in all situations is excellent, and they are comfortable enough. They are also a bit cheaper than the other premium brand, so they offer good value for money.

Rated tyre: Continental PremiumContact 7

Excellent tyres, both in terms of road holding and comfort, with no issues whatsoever when it comes to quietness. I previously had Michelin Primacy 4 tyres, but the grip level of the Continental tyres seems better to me, as does the comfort, not to mention the fact that they cost less…

Rated tyre: Continental Ultracontact NXT

These tyres are so efficient (-15% consumption compared with the original Michelins) that I would have been disappointed not to find them again: this model ticks all the boxes, grip in dry and wet conditions, braking, quietness and energy savings.
