All about your car and its specifications

Before it's too late!

There are 3 main reasons to change your car tyres:

The first reason is legal:
As soon as the depth of your tyres reaches 1.6 mm, and the tread wear indicators reach their limit, it's illegal to drive with your tyres.
You could be fined and face points on your licence.

The 2nd reason is safety:
The more your tyres wear out, the more your wet braking distance will increase, and the more likely you are to aquaplane.
So it's very important to change your tyres before you reach this limit.

The 3rd reason is technical:
If you get a flat tyre, an expert needs to see the condition of your tyres and the location of the puncture.
If the puncture is located on the sidewall of the tyre, or if there are traces of marbling, then your tyre is beyond repair and will need to be replaced.

Keeping your tyres in good condition guarantees safety, and costs you less than causing an accident would.

Remember: your tyres are your only contact with the ground!

Checking your tyre pressure at least once every 2 months is essential for several reasons:

Tyres naturally lose a little pressure.
Even if tubeless tyres are almost perfectly airtight, they do have areas of weakness (valves, beads between tyres and rims).
Your driving style (mounting the pavement repeatedly...) may also accentuate this natural loss of pressure.

Tyres can experience slow punctures.
You drive over a blunt object, your valve has deteriorated faster than expected, you lose your valve caps, a nail or screw has got into the tread.
All these incidents require serious attention.

Temperature changes cause air molecules to vary in size.
This means that your tyres will need more air in winter, because the temperatures are colder than in summer, when the air molecules in your tyre expand.

We recommend that you regularly check your pressure at a petrol station or garage to catch potential problems with your tyres as early as possible and readjust your pressure accordingly.

Several factors contribute to the wearing of your tyres:

  • The weight transported: the heavier the load transported (empty vehicle weight + load), the more the tyres will have to carry and cushion this weight.
  • The type of route taken: driving in the city and in the mountains is more wearing for tyres (acceleration, change of direction, braking) than driving at a constant speed in a straight line on the motorway.
  • Driving style: the more incisive, jerky or brutal your driving style, the more stress you put on your tyres.
  • The condition of the undercarriage (shock absorbers, braking system, alignment, ball joint condition, wheel balancing, tyre pressure, etc.). A new car therefore consumes fewer tyres than a poorly maintained vehicle.
  • The season, model and brand of tyres fitted to your car: the softer your rubber compound, the more quickly you'll get through your tyres.

All these factors combined will impact the speed at which your tyres wear out. As you can see, this wear and tear develops over time.

Many motorists are concerned about the cost of tyres.

Whether you have summer, winter or all-season tyres, calculating your costs can be a complicated matter.

In fact, the cost of your tyres can vary according to several factors:

  • Your rim diameter.
  • The dimensions and size of your tyres.
  • Your desired brand.
  • Your selected tyre profile.
  • Your desired season.

In short, tyres can cost anything from a few pounds to several hundred pounds.

When you use our website for your tyre purchases, you can enjoy the benefit of our advice to get swift answers to all your questions.

You've just bought a car and want to change the tyre size or rim size.

This is possible under certain conditions, here's how to do it:

  • Take your original measurements.
  • Go to our measurement conversion chart which shows you all the necessary approvals.
  • List all possible approved dimensions.
  • Once you've made your choice, check the compatibility with your current wheels or your new rims.
  • Visit our website to find your tyres or complete wheels.

So, whatever your main reason (giving your car a new look, finding something for the winter or saving money), TyreLeader will assist you and find the approved solutions.

Be careful, don't use your current fitting, use the tyre size approved by the manufacturer of your vehicle. Also remember to respect the speed rating and load index of your original tyres.

The original tyre fitting on your car is the fitting that the car manufacturer chose to design, develop and approve the vehicle.

All other equipment is therefore not original, but may be approved.

This means that the size can be fitted to your car without danger or risk to the driver and passengers.

The original fitting (or Original Equipment) is the size, make and model of tyres fitted to your car when it was delivered new.

It's not an obligation to keep Original Equipment.

The following markings tell you if a tyre is or has been developed for a particular car (the markings are specified on the sidewalls of the tyres and product information sheets):

  • Alfa Romeo tyres: sidewall marking AL
  • Aston Martin tyres: sidewall markings AM8, AM9, AMS, AMP
  • Audi tyres: sidewall markings AO, RO1, RO2, B, EZ
  • Bentley tyres: sidewall markings B, B1, BC, BL
  • BMW tyres: sidewall markings *, M3
  • Citroën tyres: sidewall marking SI
  • Chrysler tyres: sidewall marking C1
  • Ferrari tyres: sidewall markings F, K1, K2, K3, KA
  • Fiat tyres: sidewall marking G1
  • Ford tyres: sidewall markings FI, FO
  • Honda tyres: sidewall marking DZ
  • Jaguar tyres: sidewall markings JRS, J
  • Lamborghini tyres: sidewall marking L
  • Lancia tyres: sidewall marking LZ
  • Lotus tyres: sidewall marking LS
  • Mazda tyres: sidewall markings DZ, EZ
  • McLaren tyres: sidewall markings MC, MC1
  • Maserati tyres: sidewall markings K1, K2, K3, KA
  • Mercedes tyres: sidewall markings MO, MO1, MOE, G1, EXT
  • Mitsubishi tyres: sidewall marking MZ
  • Opel tyres: sidewall marking OP
  • Porsche tyres: sidewall markings N0, N1, N2, N3, N4, N5, N6
  • Renault tyres: sidewall markings G1, RE
  • Seat tyres: sidewall marking SE
  • Subaru tyres: sidewall marking CZ
  • Suzuki tyres: sidewall marking SU
  • Toyota tyres: sidewall markings DZ, MZ
  • Volkswagen tyres: sidewall markings VO, V0, VW, G

When changing tyres, be sure to fit the same tyres on the same axle to avoid vibration or unstable driving.

We recommend that for sports and high performance vehicles, you keep tyre sets with these specific original markings.

Keeping the tyre valve in a good state is a guarantee that your tyres will stay at the right pressure.

Over the years and miles driven, your rubber valve wears out.

It's therefore very important to change it when you change your tyres.

Metal valves are in turn more hard-wearing.

When changing tyres, however, your fitter must still check that they are waterproof.

The size of your tyres is indicated on the sidewall.

There you'll find all the useful information you need to know in order to change your tyres properly:

  • The width (in millimetres)
  • The aspect ratio (in %)
  • Rim diameter (in inches)
  • The load index
  • The speed rating

For example: 225/45R17 94W corresponds to:

  • Tyre width: 225
  • Aspect ratio: 45
  • Rim diameter: 17
  • Load index: 94
  • Speed rating: W

All about our products

Yes, the tyres sold on our site are new and in every respect identical to those sold by your mechanic.

In addition, TyreLeader.co.uk supplies to many garages and dealerships, and all the tyres sold on the TyreLeader site are new tyres (or retreaded tyres).

These tyres are produced by the world's biggest manufacturers and are all approved for use on European roads.

So there's no difference between tyres purchased at very high prices in car dealerships and tyres bought at discount prices from TyreLeader.

The only difference is the price!

Yes If you can see the tyres on the site, it means we have them in stock and they can be delivered quickly.

TyreLeader has one of the largest inventories in Europe.

So, all the tyres you can find on our site are available for sale and will be delivered within just a few days.

This way you can get them fitted on your car very quickly.

Choosing your tyres can quickly become complicated.

Rather than asking yourself 100 questions such as: where do I buy my tyres? Which brand and model should I choose? Who's going to fit them?

We talk you through it all on TyreLeader.co.uk

  • Check the size of your tyres on your car.
  • Enter the size of your tyres using the tyre selector on our homepage.
  • You'll then see a wide variety of tyres on the results page.

We offer all types of tyres for all budgets.

You can then decide if you'd like:

  • The same brand of tyres that you currently have.
  • Another brand of the same quality.
  • You can adapt your search according to your budget.
  • Select the specifications you want.

Once you've made your choice, simply confirm your order.

You'll be able to have your new tyres fitted to your car in a few days.

Here are a few questions to will help you choose the right tyres:

In which season will you use your tyres?
Summer tyres / Winter tyres / All-season tyres

Which conditions do you usually drive in?
Motorway / city / mixed / off-road

What type of vehicle do you drive?
Passenger car / SUV / 4x4 / Utility

Do you tend to cover long distances or do you just drive a few miles with your vehicle?
<3,000 km/year, between 3,000 & 10,000 km/year, from 10,000 to 16,000 km/year or more than 15,000 km/year?

Do you need the reassurance of a well-known tyre brand?
Or do you prefer to find the best value for money?
Or do you prefer to find the cheapest tyres?

Once you've answered these few questions, you will be sure to find what you're looking for in our collection of tyres.

Our detailed product information sheets will help you to make your final decision.

Your answers to the aforementioned questions will lead you to the best tyre brand for you.

This brand is the tyre brand adapted to your use and expectations.

To justify our explanation, remember that all tyres sold on TyreLeader:

  • Are approved for driving in Europe.
  • Have been tested by our customers.
  • All tyre reviews and tests are available on our product pages.

We strongly recommend that you change your 4 tyres.

This is particularly applicable for cars with four-wheel drive (4WD) or vehicles with winter tyres. This saves you axle problems or poor traction.

If your budget does not allow it (or you simply don't want to change all 4 tyres), you can just change 2.

We do always advise you to put the new tyres at the rear in order to stay safe, maintain good traction and limit the wear of your new tyres.

So you'll need to refit your rear tyres to the front.

If you get a flat, you can just change one tyre as long as you keep on the same axle:

  • A difference in tread depth of less than 5mm between the 2 tyres.
  • The same brand and profile on the axle.
  • The same category of tyres (season).

You'll find an extremely wide winter range on our website, for all tyre segments and brands.

No more winters stuck in your car or out of control slips on the road.

As soon as the temperature drops below 7°C, the winter tyre is the best choice due to its siping and rubber compound.

They're designed to ensure your mobility and safety whether it's snowing, cold or the roads are wet.

We have a wide range of summer tyres from more than 200 brands for all vehicles.

You'll be surprised by the sound quality, fuel consumption and driving stability of summer tyres, suitable for temperatures above 7°c.

On each summer tyre product page, you'll find opinions and feedback from our customers who drive with our products every day.

You will find a wide choice of all-season tyres on our website.

All-season tyres have improved significantly in recent years.

All premium and quality tyre brands now have very wide and high-performance ranges.

A real compromise between summer and winter products, the all-season tyre has found its place on the European tyre market.

Long criticised as a redundant tyre, manufacturers now produce:

  • Sufficiently siped tyres.
  • Silica-based rubber compounds make it possible to find the right balance between wear and traction.
  • They have the necessary markings to travel in winter on all roads (M+S & 3PMSF).
  • They perform much better in summer than winter tyres do.

In short, if you don't live in the mountains but go there once or twice a year to ski, and the winter at home is below 7°c, the all-season tyre can save you from changing your set of tyres twice a year (summer and winter).

Whether you are looking for motorcycle tyres for your enduro, road, sports, motocross, chopper, cruiser, competition, scooter, tourism, quad summer or winter, our site is made for you!

Are you a seasoned biker with a preference for a specific brand of motorbike tyres, or are you just starting out with your first set of 2 wheels? Either way, TyreLeader.co.uk has referenced the widest choice of tyres for your bike.

Thanks to our customer reviews, exchange with other motorcyclists and discuss what you think is the best tyre for your 2 wheels.

Each tyre manufacturer, begins their project within the product marketing team to design a new tyre profile.

The product marketing team will define the market, usage and customer preferences, and will group everything together in a set of specifications.

These specifications are sent to the product development team, which will be the interface between the technical, marketing and R&D (research and development) teams.

So, any brand can theoretically make a tyre as it sees fit. The brand's DNA then comes into play.

This DNA is the genetic map that each brand will require from its team members for each of its profiles and tyre models.

Let's now try to summarise the DNA of each tyre brand, so you can distinguish between them more easily:

  • Michelin: focuses its products on durability (longevity), the environment, and a mix of high performance factors (braking, traction, etc.).
  • Continental: focuses its products on technology and braking.
  • Bridgestone: focuses its products on excellence and technology.
  • Goodyear: focuses its products on innovation and technology.
  • Dunlop: focuses its products on sports performance and trust.
  • Pirelli: focuses its products on high performance and perfection.
  • Hankook: focuses its products on emotion and performance.

So, it's your choice... all these tyres are great... but which ones do you prefer?

To help you in your choice of tyres, we have grouped them into several categories, which should help you find your way around the tyre world.

In the TOP PREMIUM category, we include all tyres produced by world-famous brands that are available on the European market as Original Equipment.

Premium brands include:

These major tyre brands all offer:

  • Safety
  • Satisfaction
  • Longevity
  • Performance

There are countless reviews to aid you in your selection.

So, make your own mind up by reading our product information sheets and customer reviews.

In the TOP DISCOUNT category, we have selected little-known tyre brands that offer an unbeatable price.

All these TOP DISCOUNT tyres are approved for safe driving on European roads.

So, if "price before everything else" is your philosophy, choose from this list, and you're sure to find what you're looking for.

Our TOP QUALITY selection includes brands that are less well known than the major premium brands but of higher quality than TopDiscount tyres.

There you'll find:

  • The secondary brands of the major manufacturers (Kleber, Uniroyal, Sava, Firestone...).
  • Brands that are well-known abroad but less so in Europe (Falken, Toyo, Nexen, Kumho...).
  • Great value for money brands.

The quality selection has been designed for relatively demanding motorists (manufacturing quality, performance, safety) who do not want to spend too much money.

Tyre prices have risen sharply in recent years.

There are several reasons for this:

  • Rim sizes have only increased.
  • The price of raw materials.
  • Technologies are more finely tuned and more expensive.
  • More powerful and heavier vehicles.
  • Taxes and labour costs.

So your tyre bill could exceed several hundred pounds.

So what should you do if you get a flat?

What should you do if you are vandalised or your tyres are punctured?

What should you do if you mount the pavement too abruptly and a bulge appears on the sidewall of your tyre?

To protect you in the face of all these risks and hazards, we've decided to launch a tyre insurance policy that covers almost any concern you may encounter with your tyres.

No more stress, tyre insurance covers all the hazards of the road at a very low price.

Paying several hundred pounds for your tyres is never easy.

Having to take out a loan to replace your tyres is really not pleasant!

This is why TyreLeader allows you to pay for your order in 3 instalments.

So, no need to tighten your belt when you change your tyres!

No need to build up long, complicated and stressful consumer credit files.

All you have to do is choose our tyres that benefit from our payment facility and you're done.

Following each purchase on our site, we ask each of our customers to tell us what they think of their purchases based on their tastes, usage and experience.

This short, objective questionnaire gives you an insight into what other customers thought about their tyres.

This way, you can make a well-informed and confident purchase.

Every year, tens of thousands of new customer reviews are added to our product information sheets.

To face the increasing cost of living, to be sure that we have the best offers on the market, we've decided to show you our competitors' prices.

You can find competitors' prices listed below our price on each product page.

So, you can make a fully-informed purchase, calculate the savings you make through TyreLeader and not waste hours trawling through all the tyre sales websites.

Choosing tyres is not always easy.

You can get lost in all of the tyre brands and end up none the wiser!

We therefore propose similar tyres that match your search criteria in order to make it easier for you to find your way around.

It's therefore really easy to have a choice without getting lost in all these tyre offers.

  • Have our IBAN, the amount to be paid and your order reference to hand.
  • As soon as the transfer is made and the amount is received, we'll send your order.

You can pay by card: credit/debit, MasterCard, Visa or Maestro.

There are several advantages to card payments:

  • It's secure.
  • Your card usually has insurance in case of problems.
  • It's immediate, meaning you'll receive your purchases more quickly.

On our fitting centre information sheets, you'll find all the pricing information (fitting, valve, balancing...). This way you know the total cost of changing your tyres upfront.

The fitting fee is to be paid directly at the fitting centre. So, you can pay in cash, by card or by cheque.

All about our deliveries

Orders for tyres leave our warehouse as soon as payment has been received.

A carrier transports them from our warehouse to your delivery address.

Delivery takes about 2 to 4 days depending on the distance covered and the weather conditions.

As soon as the tyres leave our warehouse, you'll receive a link with a tracking number.

Use this tracking number to see where the tyres are and when they will be delivered.

You'll be safe in the knowledge that your tyres are on the way, and you'll know when you need to be present.

If, however, you're absent during a delivery attempt:

  • The delivery person will attempt to drop them off to a neighbour or local shop. They will ask the receiver for a signature and leave a delivery notice with instructions in your letter box.
  • If this is not possible, they will simply leave a delivery notice and you'll have to set up a new delivery slot.

If your tyres are delivered to a fitting centre, you don't need to be there to accept them, our fitting partner does it for you!

For deliveries to fitting centres or garages, the centre will notify you when your tyres arrive.

However, if you haven't heard from them, give them a call.

Your tyres are probably already waiting for you.

As soon as you place an order on our website, we can deliver to the address of your choice:

  • Your home.
  • Second home.
  • Your office.
  • Partner garage.
  • Fitting centre.
  • A friend's place.
  • Others.

When ordering, you can enter your billing address and your delivery address separately.

We work with the largest networks of drivers/delivery people in Europe.

Your package will therefore be:

  • Handled with the greatest care.
  • Tracked and monitored regularly at each checkpoint.
  • A local delivery person will check the receiver's identity.

These guarantees of quality and speed of delivery make our site one of the Internet's leading tyre sellers.

When you place your order, we send you a tracking number.

You receive this tracking information as soon as the tyres leave the warehouse.

It allows you to track the position of your package in real time via the link.

You'll be up to date and informed when your tyres have been delivered.

All about our fitting centres

We've built a network of fitting partners over the years with more than 20,000 centres in Europe.

This network is made up of:

  • Garages.
  • Car Centres.
  • Car dealerships.
  • Specialist tyre dealers.

All these fitting centres are experts in the tyre field. They are regularly trained internally or via tyre manufacturers and other equipment vendors such as Provac, Tiptop...

You can also leave your comments to let us know that everything went well.

With a network like this, there's sure to be a centre near you!

You'll find several links on our website that direct you to our fitting centres.

You'll find them:

  • On the homepage: in the delivery and fitting tab.
  • On the product pages in the fitting tab.
  • When you enter your delivery address after confirming your basket.

So at each step you can see:

  • Where are our fitting centres are.
  • Opening hours.
  • Prices and services.
  • Our customers' reviews.

Our fitting centres are located all over the UK.

Geotargeting has been finely tuned to ensure that there is at least one fitting centre within 6 miles of most of our customers.

If you fall into the 10% without a fitting centre near you, feel free to tell us where you live in order to further improve our network.

In the meantime, you can also have your order delivered to your regular garage.

So you do have options, and you can even decide to have your order delivered close to your workplace or holiday destination.

Changing tyres involves several steps:

All prices are listed by the fitting centres on our website.

This makes it easy to plan your tyre change.

The fitting price varies according to several factors:

  • Your chosen fitting centre.
  • Your rim diameter.
  • The type of rim on your vehicle (alloy or steel).
  • The vehicle category (motorcycle, passenger, van, lorry).

All our prices are shown on the website to allow you to compare your tyre change.

This way you avoid any unpleasant surprises.

All service fees are to be paid directly to your fitting centre.

This allows you to adapt the number of services to your needs and to pay for the work after fitting rather than before.

We'll then be able to review your request and take the necessary action.

Once you place an order, we give you an order number that allows us to keep track of all its stages and updates.

This number is therefore very important, and you'll need it each time you get in touch with us.
