About the Bridgestone brand

The Bridgestone brand was founded in 1931 in Japan by Shōjirō Ishibashi. Its name, derived from the literal translation of “Ishibashi” (“stone bridge”), reflects the ambition to create tyres capable of supporting the rapid developments in the automotive sector. From its beginnings, the company has been producing tyres by integrating Japanese technology, with the aim of standing out from European and North American manufacturers.

  • From the 1950s, Bridgestone modernised its sites and became the first company to market spoked tyres. Its turnover increased significantly, placing the brand at the forefront of the tyre industry in Japan.
  • In the 1970s, the company invested heavily in research into radial tyres, notably launching the Super Filler Radial (1978) and the Potenza (1979), a tyre focused on high automotive performance.
  • As part of its international expansion, Bridgestone acquired factories in Australia, invested in a manufacturer in Taiwan and established operations in Indonesia, Iran, and then in many other countries. In 1988, the Group bought Firestone, thereby strengthening its global presence.
  • With the opening of factories and R&D centres in various countries, Bridgestone expanded its range of tyres for passenger cars, lorries and commercial vehicles. The first Bridgestone radial tyre appeared in 1967, supporting improvements in durability and driving comfort.
  • In 2016, the brand launched the DriveGuard tyre, designed to be driven even in the event of pressure loss. Its “Cooling Fin” technology allows drivers to keep control of the vehicle during a puncture, for up to 80 km at 80 km/h.
  • Today, the company ranks among the largest tyre manufacturers, with a turnover placing it second worldwide. In Europe, its headquarters has been established in Belgium since 1972, complemented by several factories and a 32-hectare research centre near Rome.

Beyond marketing its tyres, Bridgestone continues its development strategy through targeted acquisitions, relying on its philosophy: to provide superior quality products to support automotive mobility around the world. Thanks to its technological heritage and industrial dynamism, the brand has become one of the leading players in the tyre market, contributing to vehicle safety and performance in many regions.

Technology from Bridgestone

NanoPro-tech™
NanoPro-tech™

The NanoPro-tech™ compound is rich in silica, the distribution of which is enhanced by the new blending technology. The perfect alliance between the structure and this compound allows for maximum adherence to the contact area in order to increase grip on wet ground.

ENLITEN
ENLITEN

ENLITEN technology refers to a combination of advanced technologies designed to improve tyre durability while maintaining a high level of safety and performance. This technical approach makes it possible to reconcile environmental requirements with road performance, both on dry and wet surfaces.

Designed to adapt to changes in the vehicle fleet, ENLITEN technology meets the specific constraints of electric vehicles without compromising the tyre’s dynamic qualities. It is also compatible with internal combustion and hybrid vehicles, thus covering all powertrain types.

Tyres incorporating this technology can be identified by the ENLITEN marking on the sidewall, indicating their suitability for the requirements of modern vehicles.

DriveGuard
DriveGuard

DriveGuard Run-Flat technology helps you keep control of the vehicle after a puncture and continue driving safely for up to 80 km, at a maximum speed of 80 km/h.

This solution is based on an advanced finned cooling system combined with reinforced sidewalls, designed to maintain stability, comfort and vehicle control after a loss of pressure. The driver can therefore reach a garage with complete peace of mind for tyre repair or replacement.

DriveGuard technology reduces inconvenient situations and the risks associated with a puncture.

Great tyre, with an excellent and very reasonable price-quality ratio. In-store, I was being charged €180 per tyre, so it’s a great saving! The tyre quality is excellent, even better than the Turanza tyres previously fitted, also in run-flat!

No issues, satisfied; however, I ordered 4 tyres and they were delivered 2 at a time over two days. The carrier could improve its logistics all the same. Even if you package your tyres in pairs, try to find a way with your distributors so that they combine the parcels and make only one trip.

Rated tyre: Bridgestone Potenza Sport EVO
4/5

Great tyres with excellent grip! They have great potential for anyone who wants it: whether on small mountain roads with hairpins or at high speed, they always deliver. During an emergency stop to avoid a roe deer, they did not even squeal; they did a superb job under braking. A great price and ultra-fast delivery. Of course I will order the same ones again... It rarely rains at the moment, but the other day there was a heavy downpour and, with the heat, the road had become very slippery, and once again they delivered. These tyres clearly focus on performance and safety...

Very good road handling, quiet and efficient. They replace the previously fitted Michelin run-flat tyres and completely transform the driving feel. As for longevity, time will tell: I haven't driven enough miles yet to judge.

Rated tyre: Bridgestone Turanza T005
5/5

Excellent tyres! I can take corners 15 km/h faster on mountain passes than with my old Continentals! Also very, very good in the wet: I still haven’t really managed to exceed their lateral grip, but their limits are a long way off. At the limit, they “growl” but don’t slide to warn you before letting go: be careful! And last but not least: a Japanese brand (I boycott the American brand, Goodyear, because it’s American..). Michelin: too expensive, mileage equivalent to Continental (I’ll have to see about these Bridgestones), and poorer dry and wet road holding than Continental. What’s more, Michelin hardly makes any consumer models in France any more, so even that selling point has disappeared... My first Bridgestones: a very, very pleasant surprise!!
